About the Organizer

The SVKM’s Pravin Gandhi College of Law was established in the year 2004 and is affiliated to the University of Mumbai. At this institution, we aim at giving students exposure to experiential learning in the varied fields of law and in this regard, we have conducted and hosted various workshops, seminars and competitions.

The SVKM’s Pravin Gandhi College of Law is organising Shastrartha: A Legal Philosophical Discourse.

Reverse Engineering: A Petition Drafting Competition [Thursday, 4th February 2021]

  • A copy of the judgment will be provided to each participant.
  • Judgement will be mailed to the registered email id at 1:50 pm.
  • Each participant will be required to draft the Petition from the given judgment.
  • Participants will be given 120 minutes to draft the Petition.
  • The competition will commence at 2 pm.
  • The result of the competition will be declared on Saturday, 6th February 2021 at the Valedictory Function.

Donning the Wig: A Judgment Writing Competition [Friday, 5th February 2021]

  • The fact sheet relating to the case will be provided to all participants on the spot. Each participant will be given 15 minutes to read the same.
  • Arguments shall be presented to the participants by student volunteers.
  • After the presentation of the arguments, each participant will have 120 minutes for writing the judgment.
  • The competition will commence at 2:00 p.m.
  • The result of the competition will be declared on Saturday, 6th February 2020.

Narrative Jurisprudence: An Oral Advocacy Competition [Saturday, 6th February 2021]

  • Each participant would be provided a newspaper article related to an offence.
  • Each team would be allotted 10 minutes for discussion.
  • The competition would commence at 2 pm.
  • The participants will have to plead on behalf of the accused. The participant will have to combine the social events and varied perceptions of society in order to put forth submissions in a narrative form.
  • The time limit is 5 minutes.
  • Participants are not allowed to plead facts beyond the newspaper article.
